New Media Center

On May 1, 2003, University of Phoenix was selected by the New Media Consortium as a designated New Media Center. Since 1993, only about 125 institutions have been selected for this designation, which denotes an organization deeply committed to expanding the boundaries of teaching, learning and creative expression. The Consortium periodically invites innovative and visionary colleges, universities, museums and other learning-focused organizations to be considered for inclusion. Among the selection criteria, the selected organizations must demonstrate their impact and innovative approach to teaching, learning, creative expression and their application of technology; their commitment to collaboration both internally and externally, and the vision and resources to remain committed to innovation and creativity for the long term.

Project Good Work

University of Phoenix was nominated by education scholars as an exemplary institution for excellence in undergraduate education, and was thereby honored to participate in a national study of excellence in undergraduate education. This national research study is a large-scale effort to examine how professionals in various domains pursue good work under contemporary conditions, including individuals and institutions that are engaged in carrying out or supporting cutting-edge work at a time of rapid innovation across all sectors of society. Conducted by researchers at Harvard, Stanford and Claremont Graduate University, the study includes four-year liberal arts colleges, community colleges, historically black colleges, proprietary institutions, and research universities.
